• Clinician's Guide to Electronic Prescribing. Just released last week in conjunction with the CMS National Conference of E-Prescribing, both the Guide and conference were launched to support the enactment of new e-prescribing incentives--effective January 2009--as a result of the passage of the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act (MIPPA) earlier this year. The guide was developed by a collaboration made up of the eHealth Initiative, the Center for Improving Medication Management, the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American College of Physicians, and the Medical Group Management Association. Developed with the strategic guidance of a multi-stakeholder Steering Group comprised of clinicians, consumers, employers, health plans, health IT vendors, pharmacists and pharmacies, the Guide is the first comprehensive, multi-stakeholder-informed "how-to" guide to help clinicians make informed decisions about how and when to transition from paper to electronic prescribing systems.
